DT
Our curriculum plans on giving students the knowledge and ability to move through the design and making world confidently. At the end of their time at Magna Carta, the students will be able to use the tools and machines safely. The students will understand the properties of a range of materials and how they work and go together. DT is an integral part of the world around us and so the students will understand how the subject relates to everyday life and real world applications. As the main aim of DT is to create products which answer a brief. The students will be able to design and make something with an end user in mind. Each year of DT is another stepping stone to the next year of learning and beyond.
Our hope is that students will take our subject at A-Level and beyond or use the skills developed to complete apprenticeships in a related field. DT is a subject where the skills developed can impact on our everyday lives. At the very least, our hope for this subject is that whatever age the students complete our subject up to, they are able to troubleshoot practical problems at home and be able to fix/build/create things themselves.
